This session focused on the pastoral care and support services that are available to students throughout their University experience.
Members of our group discussed issues and experiences faced between staff and students in relation to welfare issues.
Early intervention of any issues with students was highlighted as being key.
Students with depression and anxiety are common within University environments. As an example one in four people will have depression.
This session allowed us to meet individuals on the front line of student support. They were very informative about the student care offered within the institution and gave us further information of what we should be doing if we come across students within our teaching practices who may be needing additional assistance and care.
